The Government has announced the National Living Wage (NLW) and National Minimum Wage (NMW) rates which will come into force from April 2021. It accepted in full the recommendations made by the Low Pay Commission at the end of October. The National Living Wage will increase by 2.2 % from £8.72 (€9.70) to £8.91 (€9.92) and will be extended to 23 and 24 year olds for the first time. For workers aged under 23, the Low Pay Commission recommended smaller increases in recognition of the risks to youth employment which the current economic situation poses.
