Sweden -Trade union comes up with alternative budget plan -February 14, 2014

LO, the blue-collar trade union confederation said the country should re-introduce the inheritance tax and try to rein in tax cuts for the wealthy. According to LO the tax reforms over the past two decades had left the tax landscape looking like a ‘Swiss cheese full of holes’. Overall, LO argued, too much reform had focused on easing the tax burden of those with higher incomes. The LO-plan for higher taxes should lead to new investments in infrastructure (road and rail), education, health and social care, and higher child allowances.
