Latvia -Dismissals lead to high unemployment in community -December 23, 2014

The number of unemployed persons in the community of Ventspils could increase about 25% after the planned dismissal of workers from the Ventspils zivju konservu kombinats (Ventspils Fish Cannery plant).

The number of unemployed persons in the community of Ventspils could increase about 25% after the planned dismissal of workers from the Ventspils zivju konservu kombinats (Ventspils Fish Cannery plant). The company's management has said that approximately 80 out of a total of 400 workers will continue to work at the cannery in January 2015, the rest will be hired on a temporary basis and officially have the status of unemployed persons.
