WageIndicator will be participating in Living Wage discussions at SUTRA 2.0 hosted by IDH
About the event
On the 17th and 18th of October, IDH India will host SUTRA 2024, a summit centred around the theme of accelerating responsible sourcing in Indian markets.
As part of this event, the WageIndicator Foundation will participate in a panel discussion on Living Wages in India. This session will delve into the need of Living Wages commitment in the agriculture and allied
sector in India that employs nearly 45% of the workforce. The key objectives of the session are:
- The need and rationale to replace Minimum Wages with Living Wages standards in India by 2025
- Analyzing the impact of Living Wages on the corporate sustainability commitments: Examine how the adoption of living wages would impact the corporate sector responsible sourcing commitments, particularly in the context of the agriculture and
food sector - How the Living Wages adoption would ensure fair wages for the seasonal and migrant workers in the agriculture sector
- Policy and Practical Recommendations: Generate actionable insights and recommendations for policymakers, businesses, and other stakeholders to effectively implement the Living wages framework by 2025
