Austria - Record growth of trade union members - March 31, 2024

In 2023, the union confederation ÖGB gained 97,978 new members which brings the total membership to 1,212,990 people. This was the largest increase in membership in more than 40 years. This means not only the second highest membership level in the past 15 years but also a historically large proportion of female membership. Further good news is the increase among young members. According to the ÖGB President, this is a clear sign of the great trust in the trade union movement and the reward for the great commitment of countless colleagues.
