Following the stalemate after a fifth round of negotiations in private hospitals, a works council conference has called on the trade union Vida to prepare for strike action. Workplace surveys had already indicated that 95% of employees favoured some form of industrial action. The employers have offered an increase of 9.15% but the union argues that this would still leave private hospitals among the sectors with the worst pay levels in terms of average remuneration. Time off arrangements and allowances for night and Sunday work are also significantly worse than in comparable collective agreements and the employers have offered nothing in this respect.
