Switzerland - Pay increase for retailer staff - October 31, 2023

The 2024 wage negotiations at retailer Coop have been completed. The bargaining parties were able to achieve significant improvements, particularly in the lower wage brackets. The unions Unia, Syna, the Coop Employees Association (VdAC) and the employers, Swiss Commercial Association, are reporting successful wage negotiations. The company increases the wage bill by 2.2%. Anyone who earns less than 4,800 francs (€ 4,986) gets at least 3% more. Coop is also raising the minimum wage. That is more than inflation, which was 1.7 percent in September. The unions therefore describe the wage round as an “important milestone”.
