Netherlands - New agreement for universities - June 30, 2023

Trade unions reached an agreement with the Dutch universities. From 1 August 2023 wages will increase by 9%. In addition, there will be a one-off payment of € 1,200 for the minimum wage scale of € 14 an hour and € 800 to € 1,000 for higher wage scales. The share of flexible contracts will be reduced to 13.5%, meaning that 300 temporary contracts will be converted to permanent contracts. The term of the collective agreement is 15 months, from 1 April 2023 to 30 June 2024. More than 63,000 employees are covered by the collective agreement at 14 universities.
