Netherlands - 14% pay rise for ground staff airline company - September 30, 2023

The union FNV and airline company KLM reached an agreement for the ground staff after the union threatened with strike action. The agreement includes a pay increase of almost 14% over 2 years, permanent contracts for temporary staff and a much improved early retirement scheme. KLM ground staff will receive an additional € 135 gross per month. On 1 October 2023, wages will increase by 6%. A one-off bonus of € 500 will follow early next year. There will be another 3% wage increase in July, 2024. If inflation is higher, pay will also increase to a maximum of 5%. The KLM Ground Staff Collective Agreement covers approximately 15,000 employees, including baggage and freight handling, passenger assistance, aviation technicians and ground stewards. The collective agreement has a term of two years.
