Greece - Plans to regularize work by migrant workers - October 31, 2023

The government plans to enable hundreds of thousands of currently undocumented migrants to work in agriculture, construction and tourism jobs. The country faces urgent needs to fill gaps in the labour market, particularly after many people left the workforce during the COVID-19 pandemic. The govermernt has announced that it is considering allowing as yet unregistered migrants to work in some sectors, in order to address the shortages.The plan is expected to affect about 300,000 migrants who are undocumented or whose residence permits have expired.
