According to the National Statistical Institute, in the first quarter of 2023, the average monthly wages and salaries increased by 0.2% compared to the fourth quarter of 2022 and reached 1,882 BGN (€ 962). Compared to the first quarter of 2022, the average monthly wages and salaries in the first quarter of 2023 rose by 17.3%. The highest growth rates were recorded in the following industries: electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (26.9%), transportation and storage (25.2%), and agriculture, forestry and fishing (24.2%).
