A protest in Sofia, organised by the two unions of miners and energy workers from the Maritsa basin, led to an agreement with the government to guarantee the preservation of jobs for those employed in the sector. The Prime Minister held talks with the leaders of the trade unions, and committed to signing an agreement between the government and the trade unions for a fair transition of the coal regions. The plan should include a timetable for reducing the capacities of coal-fired power plants, and the preservation of jobs will be guaranteed by the creation of a state enterprise in which all those currently working in the state mines will be reassigned.
