Austria - 24-hour care: a working-time issue - February 29, 2020

An ongoing discussion about working hours in the care industry has recently led to a series of warning strikes. The discussion has focused on employees in the health, nursing and social professions, but particularly on a group of nurses who do not benefit from collective agreement negotiations: the 24-hour carers who look after the elderly and sick at home, live with them and are almost always self-employed and women.
