Poland -Unions warn of nation-wide protests over unilateral increase in pension age -March 13, 2012

Government announcements that the pension age will be raised to 67 for men by 2020 and for women by 2040 have sparked trade union protest throughout the country. Trade unions have announced to continue with actions and have demanded a national referendum on the issue. Meanwhile, speculation rises as the junior coalition partner in the Polish government has pronounced doubts over the increase of the pension age.
