WageIndicator is looking for an Ecosystem Manager in India!

For a new and exciting project in India we are looking for experienced Ecosystem Manager!  

JOB POSITION

  • Position:  Ecosystem Manager
  • Location: India
  • Objective: Build, orchestrate, and scale a high-trust partner ecosystem across India, spanning job portals, employers, staffing firms, CSR programs, government, and skilling bodies, to enable data-sharing, outreach, and program execution that improves labour market transparency for blue and grey collar work and workers.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

India Workforce Index, an initiative by WageIndicator Foundation to map wage levels, skilling gaps, and job trends across India’s blue- and grey-collar workforce, with support from our knowledge partners in India, IIM Ahmedabad and FLAME University. The aim is to monitor the trends in India for Blue and Grey Collar segments of the labour market in labour supply, labour demand and wages and/or incomes of workers with quarterly updates for the parameters. The trends, as much as possible, will be disaggregated by state, city, gender, age, employment status, industry, occupation groups, subject to the availability of information. It’s a research-driven initiative, with the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation providing the anchor funding. 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Network building: Identify, onboard, and nurture relationships with job portals, staffing firms, major employers, CSR leaders, sector skill councils, policy makers, government officials, and ecosystem enablers across key regions in India.
  • Partnership development: Structure MoUs and collaboration models that enable data contribution, joint outreach, and co-branded initiatives aligned to the Index.
  • Ecosystem management: Maintain and grow an up-to-date partner database with contacts, engagement status, integration notes, and contribution cadences.
  • Government interface: Engage state/central agencies and public platforms to align partnerships for existing data projects and research. 
  • Event leadership: Plan and run events, workshops, meetups, and briefings to activate collaboration and expand the Index’s reach.
  • Data enablement: Coordinate with research and data teams to operationalize partner data and integrate contributions into internal databases and dashboards.
  • Community activation: Convene practitioners and organisations around blue/grey-collar work themes to share insights, case studies, and opportunities that improve Index adoption and data coverage.
  • Performance tracking: Monitor partner activity and event outcomes; produce periodic ecosystem reports and recommendations in relation to the project outcomes.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work with research, data, and project leads to translate partner inputs into outputs.
  • Compliance and ethics: Ensure data sharing, events, and communications adhere to privacy, consent, and ethical engagement standards across stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Experience: 5+ years in ecosystem building, partnerships, network development, or program execution in India; exposure to recruitment/job portals, CSR, or workforce skilling, and/or prior fundraising experience would be an advantage.
  • Education: Master’s degree (Business, Economics, Public Policy, Social Sciences, or related).
  • Stakeholder skills: Demonstrated ability to manage multi-stakeholder relationships (employers, investors, government, NGOs) with strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Location: Candidates must be based in India with familiarity across regional ecosystems and willingness to travel in-country for partner engagements.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional writing and editing skills in English; proficiency in a second (or multiple) Indian language(s) is a plus.
  • Proactive Approach: Initiative-driven, able to lead and manage responsibilities independently.
  • Organisation: Strong ability to multitask, prioritise, and work across multiple projects simultaneously.

REMUNERATIONS AND TERMS:

  • Competitive Pay: NGO sector-aligned remuneration based on qualifications, experience, and location, with annual reviews.
  • Terms of engagement: This role is offered on a fixed-term contract basis, initially for 1 year. The contract can be renewed annually based on performance.
