Background

The gig economy has enabled short-term and flexible work. In Indonesia, its rapid growth has provided millions of workers with new income opportunities. However, it has also exposed them to challenges like fluctuating incomes, job insecurity, and hampered standardised compensation. To solve these challenges and create a robust gig economy in Indonesia, WageIndicator and Gajimu (WageIndicator Indonesia), with the support of GIZ, have created a "Living Tariff Tool" or “Cek Tarif Layak” for gig and freelance workers.

The Living Tariff Tool is designed to help gig and freelance workers calculate the tariff they should charge based on their cost of living and additional work-related costs. By providing clear information on decent tariffs for gig workers, the tool can enable labour market transparency and minimize the information gap between workers and employers. Explore the Living Tarif Tool frequently asked questions (FAQ) page to try the tool and learn more.

The webinar will officially launch the Living Tariff Tool in Indonesia. Hosts will explain the tool’s functioning and provide relevant background information for its usage. A panel discussion with industry experts will focus on the specific issues encountered by Indonesian gig workers, highlighting the Living Tariff Tool’s potential to mitigate these issues.

Note: The webinar is open to all stakeholders interested in the gig economy, including workers, policymakers, academics, and industry representatives. We look forward to your active participation in this insightful discussion on reshaping the future of gig work through fair tariffs and advocacy.
