Switzerland - Public transport workers on strike - January 31, 2024

Unionized public transport workers plan to strike in Geneva on 31 January. The Geneva Public Transport (TPG) unions will lead the industrial action demanding increased salaries and better working conditions. Initial discussions between TPG management, the Transport Staff Union (SEV) and transfair resulted in an indexation of salaries of 1% for 2024. But this is not enough: the unions also want a salary increase and other improvements which notably concern time slots and training. The action will likely involve bus, tram, and urban rail transport. Unions confirm that minimum services will be provided throughout the day; regional and cross-border services will likely remain unaffected.
