Austria - Strike clearance for trade - January 31, 2024

Before the third round of negotiations for around 150,000 trade workers on 11 January, the union confederation ÖGB granted strike clearance. According to the services department in the vida-union the employer offer of 8% does not even cover rolling inflation of 9.2%. It therefore complied with the request of the vast majority of employees and obtained strike clearance from the ÖGB. If the employers show no willingness to at least compensate the increase in prices at the negotiation date, the union will initiate collective action.
