Globally, the cut-flower sector is worth over $15 billion. Millions of people involved in the growth, transportation, and sale of flowers depend on it for their livelihoods. The Netherlands has emerged as a hub of this sector, with a large domestic market that occupies a central position in the import and export of cut-flowers.

Together with Mondiaal FNV, WageIndicator conducted a comprehensive research study aimed at addressing the crucial issue of bridging the gap between Minimum Wages and Living Wages for workers in the Latin America and African cut-flowers sector. Our research delved into the specific dynamics of six key countries: Ethiopia, Kenya, Uganda, Ecuador, Colombia, and the Netherlands, shedding light on the challenges and opportunities in each region.

To provide a clear overview of our findings, we've created a data visualisation that shows the gaps between the Minimum Wage and Living Wages in the studied countries

We are excited to present a video that offers a concise summary of our study's key results and highlights in the aforementioned countries, which will be further deepened in the webinar.

Join us for our upcoming webinar, where we will dive deeper into this critical topic. The webinar scheduled for May 23rd, 2024, will feature a discussion with trade unions, exploring the feasibility of achieving Living Wages within the industry. We'll delve into the strategies to make this a reality and spotlight industry leaders who are at the forefront of championing this vital cause.
