Under the ambit of its ongoing engagement with FLAME University, the WageIndicator Foundation held two courses as part of the FLAME Summer School programme. The courses were on the Cost of Living and Wages and Data Journalism, drawing on WageIndicator’s expertise in both domains. The team also conducted a workshop on Data Visualisation for all students of the Summer School programme.
In the meantime WageIndicator Team members discussed Principles, improvements in Data Collection, the development of the second labour Rights Index and more.

This Data Journalism course introduced students to the changing nature of journalism in a data-driven and web-focussed era. It provided students an overview of best practices and trends in data and web journalism, including modules on social media communication. Students also took part in practical exercises that taught them to create data-based stories and communicate them clearly with data visualisation tools. This Cost of Living and Wages course taught students how to utilise survey data, focussing on the data collection process and its repercussions on larger research questions.
