Find out more about the WageIndicator Internship Lab, as interns and team managers speak about their experiences, including three sessions that focus on data collection, making sense of data and making data accessible.

The FLAME University WageIndicator Internship Lab launched in September 2019, and has seen two successful consecutive years at FLAME University. This year, the internship consists of 5 teams housing over 80 interns from across India:

  • Data Analysis and Visualisation,
  • Labour Laws and Minimum Wage,
  • Living Wages,
  • Videos and Visuals
  • News and Social Media.

Other than this, interns from Amsterdam and Kassel University, Germany are also interning with WageIndicator on various specific topics of interest namely, data collection, analysis and labour laws. They will shortly be joined by a team of interns from Romania.

Prachi Agarwal is an undergraduate student at FLAME University, pursuing a degree in Economics and Public Policy. Her research interests include 'the role of the Gig Economy in the future of work in India' and community health.

Muskaan Pal is an undergraduate student at FLAME University, pursuing a degree in Psychology with a minor focus on Economics and Sociology. Her research interests lie in the behavioral sciences and digital humanities in a cross-cultural capacity.

Svankita Arora graduated from FLAME University in ’20 with a major in Economics. She was the general manger for Wage Indicator/FLAME University research lab for the year 2019-20. She is currently working with SEWA Bharat as a training consultant.

Kabir Nagadia is an undergrad at FLAME university with a Major in Economics. He is interested in mathematical modelling for social sciences. He wants to pursue modelling further in Development Studies.

Shriya Methkupally is an undergraduate student at FLAME University with a Major in Economics. Her interests lie in the area of Education and Development Studies. In the future, she hopes to be able to create and impact in the Indian Education Sector.

Moreblessing Nyambara is the Gender and Social Welfare Secretary of Amalgamated Rural Teachers Union of Zimbabwe, a Human Rights Activist, and a Mathematics Teacher. She has a Master of Science Mathematics Education Degree and Currently studying a Masters in Labour Policies and Globalisation at Kassel University. She is doing an internship with the Wageindicator. She is focusing on analyzing Salaries and the cost of living for Secondary school Teachers in Zimbabwe.

Mekhala Kumar is an undergraduate student at FLAME University with an Applied Mathematics major and an Economics minor. Her interest lies in the field of quantitative social sciences and she plans to study this in the future.

Rhea Shah is an undergraduate student at FLAME University with an Applied Mathematics major and an Economics minor. She has a keen interest in data science, a field she hopes to pursue her career in.

Ovee Karwa is an undergraduate student at FLAME University with a major in Literary and Cultural Studies. She has a keen interest in studying power structures, ideologies and inequalities, and plans to pursue her career in the developmental sector

Kapish Agarwal is an undergraduate student at FLAME University with a major in International Studies and minor in Public Policy.

Victor Hartman is a Bachelor's student in political science at the University of Amsterdam. His interest lies in comparative politics and applying quantitative research methods in political studies.

A look into how Videos and News interns use the WageIndicator sites and social media platforms to make data available and accessible.

Devi Dang is an undergraduate student at FLAME University with a Literary and Cultural Studies major and a Theatre minor. Her interest lies in visual content creation and she aspires to become a theatre-maker. While she may not specialize in Economics, Maths or anything Data, she is keen to use her skills to present complex information in an engaging and easy way for everyone.

Anamayee Shirolkar is currently a student of the FLAME Scholars' Program. Her degree is in International Relations, but she is now studying business. She hopes to combine these niches along with policy and economics.

Esha Ahuja is a student of the FLAME Scholar's Program, pursuing a Postgraduate Diploma in Interdisciplinary Studies and Research, with a focus in Psychology. Although her interests lie primarily in neuropsychology and cognitive psychology, she really enjoys content curation and is open to constantly learn from a vast majority of fields.

Vasudha Ghai is an undergraduate student at FLAME University with a major in Finance and minor in Digital Marketing & Communications. She is passionate about content curation and social media managment. In the future, she intends to dive deeper into the creative field of digital marketing.

Gopika Kumaran is currently a Teach for India fellow, and graduated in 2020 from FLAME (Major- Econ and Minor- Psych). She was part of the first batch of student interns for the WageIndicator Lab@FLAME and co-managed the Data and Web Journalism team. The attention to detail, leadership skills, and the insight into the field of labour and wages that she gained from WI is something she still carries forward.
