Spain - Unions calling to ensure payment increase in public sector - March 31, 2024

The union UGT-SP and CCOO Sanidad are calling on the government to ensure payment of the 2% pay increase across the public sector as set out in the three-year agreement 2022-24. The agreement has so far delivered pay increases totalling 7% in 2022 and 2023 and there could be an additional 0.5% on top of the 2% in 2024 depending on economic developments. The unions also want confirmation that various measures introduced as part of an austerity package back in 2012 are finally rescinded. The unions want the government to immediately begin negotiations on partial retirement, professional classification and adaptation to the European Framework for Professional Qualifications.
