Trade unions SINTAP and STAL have called for a wide range of improvements to the pay and conditions of both public sector and voluntary firefighters. Trade union members joined to lobby the government and set out their demands, including updating of various allowances covering risk, hardship and permanent availability; revision of the Staff Statute of Professional Firefighters of Local Administration; updating pay scales and revision of the retirement age.
