Netherlands - Railway strike called off after agreement is reached - January 31, 2024

Trade union FNV and the Dutch Railways NS have reached a new collective agreement. This means that strikes are called off for the time being. NS employees will receive on average a 6.6% pay increase. The FNV speaks of a hard-fought result. NS employees will immediately receive 4% more pay retroactively or at least € 240 extra. Employees in the lower pay scales receive a higher percentage increase. The position of temporary workers is improved. They will receive a permanent contract after 18 months. Older employees from the age of 63 may refuse night shifts. The collective agreement runs from 1 January 2024 to 1 March 2025 (14 months).
