Sweden - Increasing pay gap between blue-collar and white-collar workers - September 30, 2023

According to the salary report 2023 of the union confederation LO, the average salary for all employees was SEK 37,500 (€ 3,155) per month in 2022. For blue-collar workers, the average salary was SEK 29,300 and for white-collar workers SEK 45,100 (€ 3,794). The average salary was thus SEK 15,800 (€ 1,329), or 54%, higher for white-collar workers than for blue-collar workers. In the last seven years, the wage gap between blue-collar and white-collar workers has increased significantly. In the latest contract period 2020-2022, the average salary for all employees increased by 8.1%. For blue-collar workers, the average salary increased by 6.7% and for white-collar workers by 8.9%.
