Spain - Call to demonstrate for higher wages - April 30, 2023

The trade union UGT called on workers to participate in the demonstrations on May Day demanding higher wages and lower prices. Prices are still very high and the purchasing power of families continues to decline. The wages agreed in collective agreements are almost to 2 percentage points below the average inflation for 2023. Thus, if the employers continue to delay the new Agreement for Employment and Collective Bargaining for 2023, the unions will start a process of mobilization and strikes for those collective agreements that have not yet been concluded.
