Norway - Trade union highlights staffing challenge - May 31, 2023

The NSF nursing union reports that the latest data from the Labour and Welfare Administration reveals a shortage of 4,650 nurses and 700 specialist nurses, making it the occupational group with by far the greatest shortage. They account, in fact, for more than 10% of the total shortage. The union is calling for urgent action on pay and workload in response to the problem and in order to meet the rising demand for health staff. The aim is to win back into the health system some of the 17,000 nurses who work elsewhere in other professions.
