Malta - Teachers on strike - November 30, 2023

The Malta Union of Teachers (MUT) has reported an overwhelming participation in the one-day strike by educators in state schools and church schools. Initial data reveals a 97% participation rate, making a powerful statement in response to the ongoing dispute over the financial package for educators. The visible impact of the strike was evident during school opening hours, with entrances standing empty and devoid of both educators and students.The strike, called by MUT due to unsuccessful negotiations with the government, reflects the educators’ frustration and their demand for fair compensation.
