Lithuania - Union asks to respect older workers - March 31, 2023

The chairperson of the trade union Solidarumas, appealed to the Government to extend the work of civil servants of pre-retirement age without higher education until 2026, instead of dismissing them from their jobs in accordance with a recently enacted law, because they do not have a higher education. There are around 2,000 such civil servants. The chairperson pointed out that there is currently a shortage of employees in the civil service and that employees with long-term experience have sufficient qualifications to perform their duties until they reach retirement age.
