Hungary - Average gross earnings increase 0.8% - April 30, 2023

In February 2023 full-time employees’ average gross earnings were HUF 531,200 (€ 1,425) and average net earnings with tax benefits reached HUF 366,400 (€ 983). Average gross earnings grew by 0.8%, and average net earnings were 1.2% higher than a year earlier. The change in the average earnings was considerably affected by the payment of the “service premium” (the so-called “firearms money”) for the army and the law enforcement personnel corresponding to six-month salary in February last year. Without this effect the rise of the average gross earnings and the average net earnings would be higher by 14.8 and 15.2 percentage points, respectively.
