The minimum wage may reach BGN 1,003 (€ 513) next year. This is shown by the calculations of the Institute for Social and Trade Union Research and Training based on the decision adopted by the National Assembly to approve an automatic mechanism for determining the minimum wage and the expected level of the average gross salary. According to the new text in the Labour Code, from the beginning of 2024, the minimum wage will be 50% of the national average wage for the last 12 months. To determine the amount, the preliminary data for the last 2 quarters of the previous year and the first two quarters of the current year will be used.
