United Kingdom - Rail strikes - August 31, 2022

Half of the railway lines closed as more than 45,000 rail workers walked out in a row over pay, jobs and conditions in the latest in a series of summer strikes. In a letter to the transport secretary, the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union accused the government of using taxpayers’ money to ‘bail out’ private train companies, helping them to avoid liability for revenue lost due to strike action.
