Slovakia - Rising prices hollow out wage growth - June 30, 2022

Although salaries kept rising at the start of this year, they did not keep up with surging prices in many sectors. According to the Statistics Office the average gross wage increased year-on-year in all the 19 monitored sectors, but real wage growth was recorded in only in seven due to inflation. Due to the dramatic rise of consumer prices real wage dropped on average by 1.4%. The average nominal monthly wage during the first three months of 2022 reached €1,212, an increase of 7.8% compared to the same period last year.
