Portugal - Minimum wage not adequate to avoid poverty - February 28, 2022

A study by Caritas Portugal reveals that the minimum wage is not enough to stop poverty for those who work. The minimum wage is not adequate to cover the costs of living in the country, which are rising much faster than workers’ income. According to this Caritas report, adequate minimum wages are essential to help guarantee decent working and living conditions, to prevent in-work poverty and to reduce job insecurity.
