Latvia - Youngest and oldest face difficulties on labour market - January 31, 2022

According to the Latvian Personnel Management Association, despite the lack of workforce in many sectors, there are two disadvantaged groups in the labour market - young people freshly graduating from school and people over 50 years of age. People over the age of 50 often feel that employers have a wish to recruit younger ones, and are afraid to lose their existing jobs. Employers also often avoid recruiting young people who have no working experience because they do not want to invest in training.
