Romania - Wages slow down but keep rising - April 30, 2021

The net average wage rose by 5.1% in February compared to the same month of 2020, to €687. In real terms, annual growth shrank to 1.8% year-on-year from 6.5% in December. The strongest wage rise was recorded in the tobacco-processing industry (29%), a sector which in terms of income was surpassed by only a couple of other industries such as the IT industry. The average wages in education were roughly half those in the tobacco industry.
