Portugal - Strike by border guards - May 31, 2021

Border guards at the Immigration and Borders Service (SEF) pushed ahead with planned strike action. The interior minister said the strike threatens to "ruin the summer" and slammed the move as “unacceptable and irresponsible". The Algarve association of municipalities AMAL and the Algarve tourism association announced their intention to lobby the government for a requisition unless SEF reconsiders. In the “pre­announcement for industrial action” sent by SEF’s union to the government, the union outlines how it intends to protest at Lisbon airport and at Faro airport.
