Netherlands - Childcare workers in action - June 30, 2021

Workers in childcare, playgroups and after-school care began a campaign of industrial action over excessive workloads. It has been launched following the failure of the BMK and BK employer organisations to respond to an ultimatum from trade union FNV. The union is warning that employees’ wellbeing is under threat and the quality of service will be compromised if action is not taken. The union has made several proposals for reducing the workload and hiring extra staff, but the employers have not agreed to any of them.
