Ireland - Unions unite in pay claim for care workers - November 30, 2021

The trade union Forsa, the general union SIPTU and the nurses and midwives’ union INMO have joined forces with the support of the ICTU confederation to secure a pay rise and establish a collective bargaining forum for workers in the community and voluntary sector. The unions argue that many of these workers provide essential services but have not seen a pay rise since the 2008-09 economic and financial crisis. The aim is for a 3% pay rise this year and to establish a forum for future collective bargaining. The unions have called on the Government to recognise its role in providing funding for community organisations which should be offering decent pay and working conditions.
