Ireland - Parental leave extended - April 30, 2021

The new Family Leave and Miscellaneous Provisions Act 2021 offers parents of a child born or adopted on or after 1 November 2019 an additional three weeks of parental leave, bringing the total number to five weeks. The Act also extends the period of time during which the leave can be taken, from the first one to two years following the birth of a child. Parental allowances will be paid at the same rate as maternity, paternity and adoption benefits, currently €245 per week.
