Hungary - Wage growth stronger than expected - May 31, 2021

Wage growth has been stronger than expected, according to labour market data. This could be explained by the public sector wage settlement. Due to planned wage rises in certain domains - including pay rises for doctors, judges and prosecutors, and employees of nurseries - the growth of average wages in the public sector overall (13.5% y/y) exceeded that of the national economy in February.
