Germany - Pandemic hits wages hard - February 28, 2021

According to data released by the national statistical office, nominal earnings fell for the first time in over a decade. The data illustrates that the coronavirus pandemic has had a more severe impact on earnings than the 2007/08 financial crisis. Preliminary data showed nominal earnings shrank by 0.6% in 2020, the first contraction since the data series began in 2007.
