Germany - 17% pay raise for carpenters in east Germany - December 31, 2021

Union IG Metall and the collective bargaining association of carpentry employers for the new federal states agreed in a first round of negotiations on a substantial increase in pay and training allowances for the 32,000 carpentry workers in east Germany. The increase will take place in three steps, starting from 1 January 2022. In the first step, wages will rise by EUR 133 per month (or 5.6%). From 1 January 2023 a further increase of EUR 125 (5.22%) will follow, and from 1 January 2024 an increase of EUR 118 (4.68%).
