France - Unions appeal against reform of unemployment benefits - May 31, 2021

For months now, unions have been standing up against the government's reform of unemployment insurance. A few weeks before its entry into force, they have not yet given up. Following the suspension of the measures applied since November 2019, multiple postponements of other components (including the most sensitive, that of the calculation method of the daily reference salary, which directly affects the amount of the allowance), and several adjustments, at the end of March the government approved by decree the introduction of new rules from July 1. But the Unsa, the CFDT, the CGT associated with Solidaires and the FSU, Force Ouvriere and the CFE-CGC have all lodged appeals before the Council of State.
