A study by the VATT Institute for Economic Research and the Labour Institute for Economic Research shows that replacing minimum unemployment benefits with a basic income of equal size has minor employment effects at best. Additionally, participation in reemployment services remained high. Universal basic income models have generated a large interest in many countries. The experiment included 2,000 people whose minimum unemployment benefit was replaced by a monthly basic income of €560.
