Turkey - Miners’ hunger strike ends after Government steps in - April 30, 2026
More than 100 miners on a hunger strike for nine days in the capital Ankara over unpaid wages ended their protest on April 28 after reaching an agreement with their employer, their union said. The Interior Minister intervened in the case of the miners, urging the company owner to pay the outstanding salaries immediately. The dispute involves workers at Doruk Mining, where approximately 110 employees have been protesting months of unpaid salaries and alleged violations of labour rights.
