Sweden - Union wants to regulate remote work - April 30, 2026
Trade union ST wants remote work rules to be regulated in collective agreements. A survey commissioned by ST found that remote work remains highly valued among members, especially because it reduces commuting time and helps employees concentrate and combine work with private life. Among state-employed respondents, 69% said they worked remotely at least one day a week. ST argued that rules differ widely between agencies even when tasks are similar. ST said there are currently no collective agreements on remote work and that it wants a central agreement that can be adapted locally. The union said this would improve equal treatment, long-term predictability and employee influence.
