Greece - Two new sectoral agreements in hospitality and tourism and in the bakery sector - March 31, 2026
Following the signing of a Tripartite Social Agreement to restore collective bargaining in November 2025 and the introduction of a new law implementing the social agreement on 1 February 2026, two new sectoral collective agreements have been concluded on 17 March 2026: one for the hospitality and tourism sector and one for the bakery sector. On the union side, the agreements were signed by the General Confederation of Greek Labor (GSEE), the signatories on the employers’ side were the Federation of Food and Tourism Workers (POEET), the National Federation of Restaurant & Related Professions (POESE) and the Greek Bakers’ Federation (OAE). Together the two collective agreements, which apply to all workers in the sectors and not just to the members of the contracting parties, will cover approx. 510,000 workers. The two-year agreements took effect on 1 April 2026. The two agreements considerably improve wages and working conditions. The agreement for hospitality and tourism, for instance, sets starting salaries for unskilled workers between €930 and €1,100 depending on the role (bartender, cook, chef, etc.), representing pay rises of 6% to 25%. A further 4% pay increase is scheduled for April 2027. The agreement also includes a 5% increase every three years, a hazardous work allowances of 10%, a tourism training bonus of up to 15%, and a 10% seasonality bonus.
