Turkey - Municipal workers strike over unpaid wages - December 31, 2025
Approximately 2,000 workers employed by the Buca Municipality in İzmir have initiated a strike due to unpaid wages and discrepancies in the collective agreement. DİSK General-İş union stated that the municipality once again failed to keep its word. The union decided to go on strike, stating that despite the signed commitment with Buca Mayor, the October salary and the retroactive collective agreement (TİS) differences should have been paid by 30 November, but no payment was made despite the 5-day option given.
