The Wage Indicator Foundation, in partnership with the Labor and Worklife Program at Harvard University, is pleased to announce the launch of a new survey module on worker participation in the ownership and control structures of firms.
May 1, 2014 -- On a day celebrated around the world as international workers' day, the Wage Indicator Foundation, in partnership with the Labor and Worklife Program at Harvard University, is pleased to launch a new survey module on worker participation in the ownership and control structures of firms.
The recent global financial crisis has led to heightened interest in corporate governance and the organization of firms, including issues related to employee share ownership and voice at the workplace. This survey module on worker ownership and control seeks to address important issues that have not been fully addressed by existing cross-national surveys.
Building on the existing Wage Indicator platform, the module will be run in 17 countries around the world:

With the support of the Wage Indicator Foundation, the research team that devised the module includes Richard Freeman, Herbert Ascherman Professor of Economics at Harvard University, Faculty Co-Director of the Harvard Labor & Worklife Program, and Director of the Science and Engineering Workforce Project at the National Bureau of Economic Research; Isabelle Ferreras, tenured research associate (chercheur qualifié) of the Belgian National Science Foundation (Fonds national de la recherche scientifique FRS-FNRS), Brussels, professor of sociology at the University of Louvain/CriDIS (Belgium), and senior research associate of the Harvard Labor and Worklife Program; and Sanjay Pinto, post-doctoral research fellow at the Committee on Global Thought at Columbia University.
